The snow on Sunday morning stop us from getting to the planned car park at the top of Walbury Hill. We just couldn't get the cars up the ice/snow steep lanes. So, after much excitement and wheel spinning, we end up parking in the local tavern. Much the the delight of some back seat passengers and also giving us the motivation for a drink after our training walk. The conditions didn't get much better on the way up either, as we trudged up hill, in foot deep snow. On reaching the summit of Walbury Hill, the highest point in the South East England region of the UK at 297 m (974 ft) above sea level. We decided to alter the route and return back to the cars, rather than continuing.
Our decent would have been a lot quicker if we'd carried a sledge up with us.
Still a lot of training to be done before our first main challenge, Snowdon at the end of March !
